Our "Golden Moments" are so incredibly special in Ms. Boldger's kindergarten class when the "grandmas" arrive. Mrs. Chris Lynch, of the Golden Years (Walworth, WI) Retirement/Assisted Living Center brought 5 wonderful ladies November 20th. We made bracelets, painted, collaborated ideas, read stories, and played. We are so grateful for this intergenerational program and look forward to the next time we are together. #WalworthGoldenMoments #WeLoveWalworth #WalworthJ1

The infamous story of "Charlotte's Web" inspired much learning in Ms. Boldger's kindergarten class this fall. Each day for several weeks, a chapter was read, and insightful discussions about friendships and farm life, captivated each child. Imagine the EXCITEMENT when a "miracle" would take place when sight words would mysteriously appear in the web above Simba's habitat. The ending of the story was bittersweet but what joy to receive copies of this book to read with our grown ups at home!!! We delighted in the day when we gave Wilber a buttermilk bath and prepared and ate buttermilk pancakes. Our posters filled with sight words will be an interactive learning board at home and we are thrilled to continue our journey with these beloved friends, Charlotte and Wilber. 🐖🕷🕸 #earlychildhoodeducation #WalworthJ1

Wellness Tip #6 ~ Stay Active at Work Adding some exercise outside of your normal job can help to promote overall wellness both physically and mentally. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Here are five simple steps to promote taking a walk throughout your day: 1. Take 5 mins from your break time or lunch to get outside for a quick walk even if it’s down the parking lot and back. Allowing yourself this time will help you feel more relaxed and give you a burst of energy. 2. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. 3. Post signs in conference rooms or offices to promote walking or standing meetings. 4. Get a walking group together to support and encourage each other to get up and move. 5. Park farther away when coming into work. Remember every little bit adds up so pick 5-10 mins throughout your day to add not only steps in your life but minutes onto your life! #WellnessWednesday #WalworthJ1

Sunday Staff Spotlight Meet Mrs. Weborg ~ Librarian How long have you worked in the district? What is your background in education? I volunteered at Walworth first, then became a substitute teacher, then a long term substitute teacher in the library and finally I became a full time teacher here 7 years ago. I earned my teaching degree from UW-Eau Claire and my Library Media Specialist license from UW-Whitewater. Where is your hometown? I grew up in Sturgeon Bay, WI, which is in beautiful Door County! My husband grew up just north of Sturgeon Bay, and we met at a summer job just after we both completed collage. Tell us about your family. We have 2 wonderful young ladies. Taylor Grace is a junior at Bigfoot and Chloe is in 8th grade here at Walworth. We also have a dog names Sydney and a cat named Rey. The people in my picture would be my extended family. My parents, my 2 sisters and their families. We enjoy spending a lot of time together. What is your favorite book? I LOVE to read, and often have more than one book going at a time! My favorite book is whatever I’m currently reading! I enjoy reading middle school fiction books to recommend to our students, I enjoy reading picture books out loud to our younger students, and I enjoy reading nonfiction self help, DIY and biographies in the summer for myself. What’s the best thing about working in the district? I love working in a small, caring community. Our staff is amazing, our students are out of this world and I enjoy working just down the street from my home. I love that my girls and I have been able to go to school each day together and I know their classmates. I love that our school is small enough that I know each student here. I love that our students have the opportunity to try out many different areas of interest (music, sports, drama, IDC, forensics…) and feel welcome. Students in larger school districts don’t always have that opportunity. #WalworthSundayStaffSpotlight #WalworthJ1

Our wonderful friends at the Golden Years provided some old traditional spring FUN for the children in Ms. Boldger's junior kindergarten class. Our "May Day" celebration included the exploration of spring pussy willows, and our dance to "tiptoe through the tulips," using scarves as props. The residents enjoyed our rendition of dancing around the very colorful maypole and we loved and appreciated our beautifully decorated May Day baskets that were gifted to us. We reenacted the story "Caps for Sale" and engaged in a sing-a-long accompanied by guitar. We thank Miss Chris and Miss Carol for leading us in this joyful morning. What a gift it was to spend time with you and the "grandmas" and one "grandpa." Thank you...We love you! #MayDay #WaworthGoldenMoments #WalworthJ1

Spring has blossomed in Ms. Boldger’s Jr. kindergarten class...Introducing “SIMBA”, the baby Lion Head bunny. Along with our joy in having Simba with us, the children are in AWE of spring and continue to marvel at the beauty this season brings. We have observed baby chicks, and air flow with our “ wind wands”. We also planted and nurtured grass seeds and watched a “yard” grow right before our eyes. Sunday Staff Spotlight Meet Ms. Dallesasse ~ Fifth Grade Language Arts Teacher How long have you worked in the district? What is your background in education? I have been teaching 5th grade Language Arts at Walworth for 17 years! I studied Early Childhood Education and worked in Childcare before getting my teaching license through Cardinal Stritch University. That is what brought me to Walworth! I also have a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Technology. What activities do you enjoy outside of school? Outside of school I like to be outside with my dogs, Toby and Max! We love to hike, kayak, explore, and go for drives in the Jeep with the top down! We are looking forward to many Jeep adventures this summer! Do you have any pets? As most people know, I LOVE dogs! My little Toby is a Russell Terrier and Max is a senior yellow lab and they are extremely cute, as you can see from the picture! Toby loves people and one of my goals is to get him certified as a therapy dog! I’d like to share his sweetness with the world! Max spent the first 9 years of his life as a field trial dog, working hard! He is living a luxurious life in his retirement! Who has influenced you most in life? I was VERY fortunate to be raised by two AMAZING parents. They are, by far, the most influencing people in my life! They are hard working, strong, and are both fighters! My mom is almost 20 years cancer free, and my dad is almost 10 years cancer free! They love and support me no matter what and I am so lucky they chose me! During the month of February, we celebrated "Diversity" in Guidance class. Students in JK-4th grade boarded a plane and traveled to Hungary, Brazil, Iceland, Thailand, and Mexico. Through the use of technology and "good old fashioned imagination," our adventures were fantastic! From climbing a pyramid in Chichen Itza to swimming in the Blue Lagoon and taking a helicopter ride for great aerial views of geysers, our adventures were priceless! Our country visits also included the students either being able to try native food from that country or making a project. Our goal is for students to understand themselves and appreciate the diverse backgrounds and experiences of others. Spread acceptance, tolerance and kindness! #WalworthJ1

Mrs. Hummel's kindergarten had so much fun celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday! They had a great time dressing up for Wacky Wednesday, with backwards clothes, mis-matched shoes and socks, and crazy hair! The class made green eggs and ham, and each student got to crack his/her own egg! Of course the children asked, Mr. KLAMM, do you like green eggs and HAM?" Yes, he did! Mr. Beauchaine was a special guest reader of Green Eggs and Ham, and he didn't like our green eggs and ham, he LOVED them! Everyone had fun dressing up with our special Dr. Seuss props and costumes! If was a wonderful week of rhyming and fun with Dr. Seuss stories, cartoons, art projects, and creativity! ❤📚❤ #DrSeuss #WeLoveReading #WalworthJ1
