Dear Community:

I have announced my retirement from education administration at the October 22, 2018 regular Board of Education meeting. I will complete this school year and retire at the end of my current contract which would be June 30, 2019.

I have enjoyed over 40 years  in education. I have spent 20 years teaching in the primary grades from 1978-1998 before beginning my work in  administrative positions at the Alden-Hebron School District in Hebron, Illinois and in the Janesville School District, in Janesville, Wisconsin.  I was also fortunate to have worked for National Louis University as a full-time Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Educational Leadership Department from 2005-2012, preparing many school administrators in Illinois and in Wisconsin.

I am proud of the staff, students, and families of Walworth School District. Walworth School District is a place that continues to honor the whole child and places value not only on  traditional academics, the arts, and athletics; but also on the social, emotional well-being of each individual child. During my tenure as District Administrator for Walworth District several key strategies were introduced and supported  including expanded tiered learning opportunities for all students, use of co-teaching and specialized teaching, the development of an innovation and design lab for student led projects, after school programs for all community members to participate in, and offering a full day Junior Kindergarten for 4 year olds.

I have no plans for retirement but as a lifelong learner there is no doubt that other opportunities and challenges await me. I am excited about having more time to travel and visit family, including my grandchildren, who live in other parts of the country.

The Board of Education will be discussing the search and hiring process for the District’s next Superintendent.  I will keep the community informed as to what that process will be.

In closing, I look forward to this school year and thank you for the opportunity to be your District Administrator.
