Student Chooses a Stuffed Animal Puppy to Adopt as Other Students Look On

You have heard about the dog days of summer, right? Well, at Walworth Jt. School District #1, it might as well be considered dog days for any season.

Jodi Cullen's class met Stella, a two-year-old Sheepadoodle. Sheepadoodles are herding dogs. Stella was well behaved and rewarded with treats for showing students her tricks.

Cori Niemuth's class loved their visit from the therapy/support dog Copper, who has visited school before. Students enjoyed snuggles and stories.

On top of real dog visits, Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten students were invited to participate in a stuffed animal puppy adoption. Students enjoyed books about puppy adoption and had a snack of "pup"corn.

Students were then able to choose a puppy, make a collar and dog toy, choose a blanket, decorate a house, and get their puppy clean and healthy before going home.

Welcome to all of the new pups: Bubblegum, Flea, Rocky, Blue, Ott, Coco, Andrew, Man, Bubblegum (again), Coco (again), Louie, Nemo and Rose.
