Photo of Postcard of Walworth School

Rosalie Castelluccio found an old photo on a postcard of Walworth Jt. School District #1 while going through family belongings and donated the card to the school.

"My grandparents moved around a lot. They were living on Highway B, near Genoa City," said Castelluccio, whose maiden surname when she attended school here was Hill. "The (card) was found in the house. My grandma must have had all of these photos in the house."

The postcard was identified as Public School, Walworth, Wis,

Castelluccio's father owned the house and her grandmother lived on the upper level. Her step-mother passed away five years ago. She found letters from 1857 in a box and gave them to a historical society.

Castelluccio did her practice teaching with Mrs. Dyne McReynolds at the Walworth school. When she arrived to donate the photo, she had a nice reunion with Cathy Boldger, a Junior Kindergarten teacher at the school. Boldger is in her 26th year at Walworth and 36th year of teaching. She taught Castelluccio's grandson, Carter, who is now a freshman at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

"When people think of Walworth School, they think of Cathy Boldger," said Castelluccio. Boldger joined Castelluccio; Phill Klamm, district administrator; Karie Bourke, business manager; and Thom Aiello, newsletter editor; on a short tour to to the front left hallway of the school, by the art room, where The Academy piece of the building, from approximately the 1850s, was preserved. It is featured on the postcard.

Bourke also has a collection of old school photos, including special magazines that were printed in 1987 and 2012, in her office.
