With a much needed move towards enhancing the overall safety of its facilities, Walworth Joint School District #1 has announced a call for bids for various essential services. The district is seeking qualified contractors to undertake crucial projects, including concrete work, asphalt work, school playground safety enhancements, installation of interior doors, and the application of exterior door safety film.

The school district recognizes the disintegrating concrete and asphalt and the need for safety improvements. This includes repairs and maintenance to sidewalks, parking lots, and other outdoor areas to ensure a safe and accessible environment for students, staff, and visitors.
With a focus on the well-being of students during recreational activities, the district is looking to improve safety on the school playground. This project involves digging out the edge of the playground, removing the existing border, installing a new border, and topping off the mulch. In addition, there is a small playhouse that needs to be moved into the mulched play area onto a stone or similar foundation to keep it from sinking.
Walworth Joint School District #1 is also seeking bids for the installation or replacement of the interior doors that are original to the building built in 1902. Safety experts agree that the doors are not safe, calling them “vulnerable” and “inadequate”.

Recognizing the importance of ensuring the security of its students and staff, the school district recognizes the need to add exterior door safety film to all of the district’s exterior doors. A few years ago it was best practice to have this film added to the main entrance doors. It is now best practice to have all exterior doors covered in this film. This specialized film adds an extra layer of protection to windows and glass doors, reinforcing them against potential break-ins, accidents, or natural disasters.
