On Tuesday, April 4, residents of the Walworth Joint School District #1 will vote on an operational referendum question. An approved referendum would provide the district with additional funding to support programs and services for students for the next three years.
This referendum is necessary due largely to the way the state of Wisconsin funds public schools. Over the last four years alone, state aid to Walworth has fallen by more than $700,000, while local taxes have been reduced by about $75,000.
Costs are also on the rise, affecting transportation, heating, property insurance, equipment, supplies, and more. As a result, the district projects approximately a $1 million decrease in its general fund revenue for the 2023-24 school year.
We invite you to learn more about the district’s needs and the proposed solution on the ballot April 4 by visiting https://www.walworth.k12.wi.us/page/referendum.

The junior kindergarten students in Mrs. Janney's and Ms. Boldger's classrooms were thrilled to listen to Mrs. Heyer read the story, "The Mitten Tree." After the story, we were asked to go to the Welcome Center and to our AMAZEMENT, stood a beautiful tree filled with mittens, just like the story! Each child delighted in selecting the perfect pair. Walworth has its own "Mitten Fairy" and we are so lucky! Thank you Mitten Fairy...We LOVE YOU!
