The Walworth School District invites both residents and open enrollment junior kindergarten/kindergarten students to our Junior Kindergarten/Kindergarten Round-Up Friday, January 31, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. Please join us to learn more about our full-day or half-day option for the 2020-2021 school year. *Meet our Early Childhood Staff *Receive Information on our all day Junior Kindergarten Program *Tour the classrooms and school *Take a bus ride Junior Kindergarten students need to be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2020. A highlight of Mrs. Niemuth's 3rd grade class are the Royal Readers whom the "Student of the Week" gets to invite to class. This time we had a partnership of family and a favorite teacher. They also had a creative word activity that correlated with the story that they shared. There were yummy treats for all to enjoy, as well! #WeLoveWalworth #WalworthJ1

The 10th annual Early Childhood “Village Fest” took place at Walworth Grade School in April 2003. We were honored with the presence of David Newell (Mr. McFeely) and Hedda Sherapan, executive producer of Mister Rogers Neighborhood. Our incredible 3 day event included an acting/art workshop for the children,  a ride in the trolley with Mr. McFeely, for all classes, an all-school assembly delivered by Mr. McFeely focusing on the wonderful work of Mister Rogers, and a special message delivered by Ms. Sherapan at a Sunday morning church service. This event most definitely provided beautiful days in our neighborhood. Mrs. Niemuth's 3rd graders LOVE their new Chromebooks! They use them every day. One of their favorite activities is to review for their tests by playing a game called Kahoot! #WalworthJ1

A group of 7th graders, led by Dr. Hajewski, participated in a Socratic Seminar that related to bias in written documents and pictures. A Socratic Seminar is an exercise with a specific set of guidelines where students help each other think critically about text in a group discussion format. #WalworthJ1

Last week the fourth graders from across Walworth county joined Alice in Dairyland at Countryside Christmas Tree Farm. Students learned about the Feltham family’s farm, the trees they grow, and the care it takes to raise a tree- 365 days/year. Alice kicked off the 2020 Christmas Tree Season by cutting down an Eastern White Pine tree, a native Wisconsin Christmas tree.🌲 Thank you Big Foot FFA alumni for sponsoring the bus for this event! #AliceinDairyland #WeLoveWalworth #WalworthJ1

The 6th graders took a virtual field trip to Venezuela! They enjoyed some entertainment in Spanish and some Venezuelan treats. Our bilingual students were able to assist our monolingual students with our learning activities, which were written mostly in Spanish.  #WeLoveWalworth

The students in Mrs. Meyers Child Development class and Ms. Boldger’s kindergarten students, journaled, played together in centers and finished illustrating the book, “Where is the Apple?”. During the month of October, JK/K Guidance classes focused on learning about kindness, happiness, and love. We read and did an activity from the children's book, "Fill a Bucket" by Carol McCloud and Katherine Martin. Mrs. Niemuth's 3rd grade class had a fun time celebrating with this special Star of the Week! The Pirate theme extended past the Royal Reader story to eye patches and chocolate gold treasures for all! #WeLoveWalworth #WalworthJ1

The Guidance Department collaborated with New Beginnings the Association for the Prevention of Family Violence (APFV). The APFV presented to the 8th grade students about the importance of self-esteem, building resiliency in our youth, making healthy choices, and supporting others. The students completed a self-esteem project to go along with the presentation. #WalworthJ1

Thank you Ms. Garcia for your generous donation of a custom built playhouse to our school's playground. It is a great addition to the Early Childhood area of the playground. The students of Walworth School will enjoy playing in it for years to come!
