Mrs. Hajewski's sixth graders participated in a Poet v. Poet March Madness Tournament. The students each filled out a bracket and then analyzed a total of 32 poems for various elements of poetry. Each poem ended up with an average score, and each round featured a new poem by the remaining poets. Finally, the six most accurate brackets from each class received a prize. Students picked prizes in order of most accurate bracket. One student even ended up with a perfect bracket! Any Wildcats still have a perfect bracket? #MarchMadness #WalworthJ1

Meet Mrs. Cruz ~ Second Grade Teacher
How long have you worked in the district? What is your background in education?
This is my 6th year working full time at Walworth Elementary, but I did various long term and other substitute teaching jobs in the district before that. I have been working in the school setting in the summers in some capacity since I turned 16, but it has been about 10 years of full time teaching.
Tell us about your family.
My husband and I have been married 10 years. He is amazing at the grill and we love cooking, fishing, and doing family activities together. I also have two young sons that both attend Walworth and make life so much fun and adventurous!
Growing up, what did you want to be?
I always wanted to be a teacher and a writer. I love to express myself through writing and I love helping others to find out what they are passionate and starting that spark for lifelong learning.
What is one of your favorite quotes?
My favorite quote is “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Do you have any pets?
We have two yellow labs named Suki and Piper that my sons love to run and play with in our big backyard.

Before Spring Break, the junior kindergarten children went on a brisk spring walk to Burger King and First National Bank and Trust of Walworth.
At Burger King the children enjoyed a special treat of either french fries, a cookie, or a vanilla ice cream cone! They were so excited to receive a toy to take home!
First National Bank and Trust provided the children with a tour of the bank, they were able to meet all of the wonderful bank staff, had time to color, and received a goody bag full of fun items to take home!
Thank you Burger King and First National Bank and Trust for a terrific afternoon full of opportunities for our youngest Walworth children!
